INDICATIONS
Protonix blocks producing stomach acid. It is prescribed to heal a disorder called erosive esophagitis (an intense inflammation of the passage for the stomach) attributable to a persistent backflow of stomach acid (gastroesophageal reflux disease). Later, it can be prescribed to maintain healing preventing a relapse. It is also utilized in the management of conditions marked by constant overproduction of stomach acid, including Zollinger-Ellison syndrome.
